Long time no museum outing post !

On one rainy Sunday we finally visited Lenbachhaus - a peculiar building, half moder, half built in Florentine-villa style. We had no idea what to expect inside, so we just entered and found out that this museum doesn't have 1euro tickets on Sundays :D The interior caught our eye so much, that we ignored the ticket price and went on another art adventure ♪

At the lower part of the gallery is contemporary art, various instalations and huge digital prints (love it) ♥ 

On the second floor is an exhibition of Munich painters

... and a room dedicated to The Blue Rider movement with the super-famous "Blue Horse I" by Franz Marc. Honza usually doesn't show any emotions when it comes to paintings, but this room made his eyes sparkle a bit (he he)

While he was admiring brush dynamics on Marc's paintings, I was standing, starring and admiring for long minutes this amazing Salome by Franz von Stuck ♥ I even come back to take a look at it again, because it's just

also this is one has an amazing atmosphere ♥

But the most peculiar part of this gallery are rooms of Franz von Lenbach which were created to look like art gallery, with muted light, dark green walls and many beautiful decorations - suddenly you feel like in a castle - or - in a real Florentine villa with a view on beautiful garden decorated with sculptures and little fountains ...

One of my favourite parts about art galleries (aside from the art itself, of course) is the art shop :D I love buying small art-nerd stuff and

here I didn't make any exception ! I had to buy a big poster of the Salome painting and also this super-cute enamel pin with the Blue Horse I ♥

I went all new out of the house on this Sunda - with head much lighter without my dreadlocks, new succulent sweater and pair of "formal" comfy pants which Honza refused to leave at the shop. I can't really see what's so special about them, but he loves them  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

ehm, now concerning my dreadlocks

Why I cut them off after more that 3 years?

- they were heavy

- messy

- and I was too lazy to do the proper repairs regularly

- I couldn't use any natural hair products like Lush shampoo or henna

- too short to do big hairstyles, too long to be worn in other hairstyle then the same bun every day

- I couldn't change my haircolour (the horror)

How I did it ?

- at first I tried to comb them out, but it took me 1 hour to comb out half of one... and I had like 30 of them on my head ?

- I cut them off to 10cm and comb that out

- it took a whole day, nevertheless

- it hurt

- I used a lot of unraveling conditioner and hair balsam

- this hairstyle is my work

(- I planned to go to hairdresser, but I didn't because I'm lazy)

I'm still super-happy that I had them for so long, because it was always my dream to have the real dreadlocks. Maybe one day I'll come back to them... but this time they HAVE TO BE white ! :D

Christmas 2016 // New Year's Resolutions

Hi, my dear readers ♥

Today the Christmas holidays are over here in Germany and I'm back with a new post ♪

It can't be about anything else than Christmas and new year's resolutions !

Same as the last year, we stayed at home for Christmas and went to Prague for the New Year's Eve. These were our first Christmas in Munich, which made everything more fun ! There is SO MANY Christmas markets everywhere, that it's impossible to visit all of them =D We went to one in our district, which was small but cute and cozy. We were also at Marienplatz - which is the main Christmas market with tree and everything. I also visited twice winter Tollwood (which is the fairtrade/hippie festival, but in big tents instead of open air like it was in summer) and my favourite Christmas market ever - the medieval market near Odeonsplatz ♥ The combination of historical festivals and cozy Christmas atmosphere is just amazing ! The hot mead, mulled wine or Feuerzangenbowle (which is mulled wine with something stronger and set on fire) and also meals are all served in earthenware pots and plates. There are medieval bands performing every weekend and some people are even wearing costumes *o* I love this place !

Last year we decided to break the usual (Czech) Christmas habits and spent our Christmas day/eve in more relaxed way, with no complicated cooking and overeating. It was the best decision ever, so we decided to continue with it ...

We went for a lunch to nearby Bavarian restaurant and for dinner I fried a few pieces of breaded carp and the rest of the dinner consisted of some fish delicatesses (?) from NordSee =D (I also bought full plate of gluten-free Christmas cookies, because I'm too lazy to bake)

This year I dressed up in my new Hufflepuff dress which I ordered from Black Milk when they restocked they're amazing Harry Potter collection ♪

The week between Christmas and New Year's Eve was busy with family visits, but it's always a good time to look back at the previous year and set some new goals for the upcoming one.

Since I have quite a bad memory, I'm writting everything down - new year's resolutions are no exception.

Here is my planner - on the left are goals set for 2016, I highlighted the ones I managed to do - and on the right is a list of important events of the year... it was a big one, I dare to say !

As you can see I failed at driving a car (I'm scared !!!), reading (10 books vs. 21 knitting projects tells why) and sketchbook-ing (I need to practice more)

And here is (quite smaller) list of goals for 2017

...I also have to-read list, to-knit list, to-do bussiness list and wishlist, but I won't bother you with these =D (...did you notice that I really like making lists?)

80% ethical

Hi, my dear readers ♥

I´m proud to say that I finally reached the point where about 80% of clothing I wear was made in ethical conditions, handmade or second-hand ! =)

It took me more than a year to give away/sell most of my sweatshop made clothes which I didn´t need and to learn living without buying something new every week or two. I won´t lie - it was hard for me, because shopping was always my remedy when I felt bad... and I feel bad quite often <_< so I had to find different activities to make myself feel happier - for example knitting, or drawing ... it doesn´t save much money (actually I´m  spending more on yarns and art supplies than I ever did on clothes =D), but it feels a lot better and that´s important !

Of course I still buy something new from time to time, but first I always ask myself "Do I really need it? Is it practical? Warm? Comfortable? Does it match with something I have? " ...etc.  And if there is at least one "No" I won´t buy it. I just won´t.

And then there are times when I really need something - like new underwear, socks, pajama, jogging pants...sweatshop free... which was super-hard to find, until I discovered CUBUS ! I had no idea there was a shop like this and it solved a lot of my problems =D I had to read their Ethical Trade article several times, because I just couldn´t belive there really is a shop which sells trendy (!) ethical clothes for affordable price. And the reason for it is that their factories are located in usual "sweatshop" countries, but they care about the workers and pay them fair for their work. I like this system a lot and find it much better than just move the production to Europe/USA which makes the clothes three times more expensive... like in ARMEDANGELS - their clothing is super-ethical, bio, made in Germany, but INCREDIBLY expensive (at least for me) or American Apparel

Since my discovery, we made a few orders from Cubus already. I bought there a lot of underwear, basic black long tank top, leggins, shirt and onesie with pugs - which was Christmas gift from my mum. My husband also bought there some basic t-shirts and a jacket. Everything arrived quickly, fits perfectly and the quality is really good =)

The only bad thing about Cubus is that they ship only to Germany, Poland, Finland, Norway and Sweden ...which is fine with me, but I can´t recomend it to anyone from Czech Republic -_-

Wedding !

Hi, my dear readers ♥

As I said in the last few posts - we got married at the beginning of August ♪

In Czech republic we have this "rule" that you should get married in the next year after engagement othewise it will "expire" ... or at least that´s what my mother told last year when we got back from our road-trip engaged =)

I have to say that I was pretty scared about all this wedding stuff, because I´ve never had any girly wedding dreams so I had absolutely no idea what to wear, where the ceremony should take a place, what cake I want and things like that... I refused to start reading wedding magazines or made any wedding-related blog or Pinterest board argghh ...it would stress me out even more !

So I was just following simple rules. For example with the dress - It has to be sweatshop free & wearable even after wedding. Because I really don´t need a huge white dress in my wardrobe which I would wear just for the ceremony and then changed into something comfortable...that´s just waste of material and money !

...and I really didn´t want spent fortune on it

So after a few looks at Etsy I decided for "Lady Melisandre" dress from ZhenNymph in cream colour. Everything went fine, the dress arrived on time, fits perfectly, looks great and I can wear it to historical festivals and things like that without looking like a lost bride =D And when it gets dirty I plan to dye it to green =)

I also planned to order some jewellery, but everything I liked cost the same or more as the dress...and in the I decided that I don´t really need it - my tattoos and a simple pentagram necklace were enough and since I was wearing the hood during ceremony there was no need for fancy earrings, too

The only problem were shoes...not that I couldn´t find any.......I was just incredibly lazy and unmotivated to go looking for some, so in the end I wanted to wear my old sandals =D Fortunatelly we went shopping a week before wedding and I just took quick look in Reno (where I buy most of my shoes) and whoa ! perfect shoes for my wedding dress were there... purrfect :3

With Honza´s wedding outfit it was a lot more simple, we went to Top Man in Prague, bought the whole set, grabbed a shirt in Esprit and ordered some accessories in Zara - everything is pretty (not exactly ethical made, but that´s impossible with men´s clothes, I think), good quality, fair price and most importantly "slim fit" so Honza looked really cool and not like wearing dady´s clothes =D

Then, appart from ordering the wedding bouquet just a three days before ceremony, everything went fine, everyone had fun, nobody was hungry and we even survied the terrible heat - it was the hottest day of the year 37°C !!! (which was good for one thing - nobody was in the mood for dance...phew, I hate dancing on weddings, it´s just embarrasing =D but I always do it when I attend other´s wedding)

The ceremony took place in "Viniční altán" (Winery house) in Grébovka, which is nice park almost in the middle of Prague with tiny little vineyard. The Winery house itself was build in a beautiful style, all from wood with a nice view over the vineyard.

Calm place, perfectly accesible with public transport and great for photos.

The owner who was helping us with organizing is also really kind and relaxed, so we had absolutely no stress and everything went smoothly =)

Now I got a new surname, I write it like five-years-old and a huge pile of paperwork awaits us when we pick up the wedding certificate in Prague) ...phew

But the wedding madness is behind us...and now we can fully enjoy summer  our wedding gifts !
