STROKE art fair 2018

Hi, my dear readers ♥

In May, right before we left to NY, we managed to visit STROKE art fair - which is a growing art event in Munich where I always discover a lot of inspiring art and artists. This year it took place at different location - The Werksviertel, which is an old industrial area made into artists-friendly space. There are ateliers for rent, huge art supplies shop, coffee, bars, discos... everything an artist needs :D OK it's more like half-artist/half-party area and I like it !

Here is a few photos I took of pieces that I liked the most ♥

Satan was there with us to consume some good art !

Of course I wanted to wear something nice, so I took out my favourite culottes, The Beatles socks I bought in London & cork shoes ♥

DU BIST FAUST

Hi, my dear readers  ♥

I'm back ! So let's start with another art adventure ♪ Somewhere in March we went to Kustnhalle München again, to see the new exhibition DU BIST FAUST. As the title suggests it's a collection of various artworks, illustrations, sculptures, movies, etc. inspired by Geothe and his Faust :)

I must say that I never really read the book and was a bit worried that I won't understand everything. But the exhibition is so very well done, that now I know the story and all its characters almost perfectly with every detail possible :D It starts with a short introduction of Geothe and where he got the idea, then there are rooms for every character, while at the same time the story continues and everything ends in grand finale (my favourite part is the Walpurgisnacht !), followed by display of various book covers from all over the world and short theatre acts screened in mirror maze ... sounds quite amazing, right ? It is ! The exhibition is still ongoing until 29.7. so if you're planning a trip to Munich, you know where to go on rainy day *wink wink*

this reminded me of CLAMP a bit :)

Words can't even describe how beautiful this painting is in real life ♥

The day was cold and rainy, so I decided to wear more autumn-themed outfit with my new favourite culottes and the cutes mori shirt ♥

Gut • Wahr • Schön

Hi, my dear readers ♥

In January I saw some posters with The Birth of Venus from Bouguereau around Munich with invitation to Gut • Wahr • Schön exhibition. Of course it caught my eye and we decided to give it a try on one of our Sunday museum/gallery adventures ♪ We had to be quick, because the exhibition was coming to its end ! It took place at Kunsthalle München a new place for us - it's right in the city center, but we've never been there before !

I had no idea what to expect from the exhibition, I only somehow knew it will be good. And it was more that just good IT WAS AMAZING ♥ The exhibition was showing works from 19th century Musée d´Orsay, most of which have never been shown in Germany before *o* So unique !

I loved every single painting, but there were two special ones which touched my art-loving soul the most - seeing Dante and Virgil by William-Adolphe Bouguereau in real life was something incredible ! IT'S SO HUGE AND BEAUTIFUL ! I love the painting so much, because it has such a powerful energy, emotions, bright red colours and absolutely perfect anatomy ♥ (I had to buy a poster at the gallery and now these two boys are hanging out at my wall forever!)

The second painting which I couldn't stop starring at was La Légende Bretonne by Edgar Maxence ♥ I've never seen this work before ! It's so magical and has beautifuly mysterious fairytale atmosphere, it also has the most Hogwarts frame, so I'm a bit suspicious that without some anti-muggle spell the painting is probably moving and instead of Musée d´Orsay, it was borrowed from Beauxbatons ...

And here are some more photos of displayed paintings I took ♪

(except this one is tapestry, not painting)

The thing I like about Kusnthalle München is that they are very modern and social-media-friendly :) for example - at the end of exhibition there's a mirror with official hashtag written on it, to save people from taking bathroom selfies :D Also there was Birth of Venus 3D replica made of paper with missing Venus, where everyone could feel like her at least for one photo :D

Oh and here's my outfit of the day ♥

I hope you're all doing fine ♪

Museum Fünf Kontinente

Hi, my dear readers ♥

Winter is season of museum outing and gallery visits, which is (appart from snow and Christmas) probably the only good thing about this grey, ugly and cold part of the year.

In November we decided to visit something new and went to Museum of Five Continents in Munich, which is... well, instead of trying to re-tell the "about" from their website, I'm going to copy and paste part of it here for you to get the idea: "The Museum Fünf Kontinente, formerly known as the Staatliches Museum für Völkerkunde, was founded in 1862 as the first ethnological museum in Germany. The collection of artefacts of everyday life, ritual objects and works of art which are preserved and continually expanded here reflect humanity’s cultural diversity. They build bridges from the past to the present day and open doors to other ways of life and viewpoints. The Museum offers access to the cultural riches of the earth’s peoples in a way which is unique with Munich’s broad range of museums."

The musem's collection was quite amazing and really inspiring ! I loved the huge Budha statue from Japan and all kinds of patterns, jewellery and garment prints ♥

Here is a few photos I took for later as reference, or simply because I liked what I saw :)

My outfit was really simple, but I've been enjoying this casual style quite a lot lately ♪ Also I apparently can't get enough of (semi-)formal pants and I'm starting to own a little collection of them :D
